Domestic and care staff placement in Johannesburg

Household help for Johannesburg families

Johannesburg is where Shakirah's Domestic Agency started, and it is still where most of our placements happen. Our office is in Lenasia, which means we know the southern suburbs well and travel north, east and west of the city every week to meet families.

Households in Johannesburg are busy. Long commutes on the M1 and N1, school runs and two working parents mean that reliable help at home is often what keeps a family running. We place housekeepers, nannies, elderly caregivers, patient carers and drivers who are prepared for the pace of city life.

What Johannesburg households ask us for

Commuting and working hours

Many Johannesburg employers leave home before 07:00. We discuss start times, transport routes and whether a stay in arrangement makes more sense before we shortlist anyone.

City wide coverage

From the south of the city to the northern suburbs, we match candidates who can reach your home reliably, which reduces late arrivals and early resignations.

Mixed household needs

Johannesburg families often need more than one kind of help, such as a housekeeper who can also do school pickups. We look for people with the right combination of skills.
